Faith in Action

Recently I had the opportunity to hear a successful, well-known businessman share about his journey of faith in Christ. In the beginning, it seemed like God placed believers in his life at every turn and around every corner. Eventually, realizing that this was not just coincidence, he began to ask questions and seek answers in order to understand a faith he once rejected, which led him to salvation and eternal life in Christ. That’s not all…it also led him to conduct business God’s way, with integrity, empathy, and wisdom, becoming a witness for His glory and a catalyst for others to believe.

Such a story is inspiring and humbling; yet there are many, lesser-known stories of believers who put their faith into action in communities across the country and around the world. After all, our Christian faith is not to be hidden but acted upon.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)

In today’s society, we hear concern about being “overtly” Christian. With our core beliefs under attack, we are left wondering if it is possible to have a positive impact on those around us. Yet Jesus spoke the words above to those who were being criticized and marginalized because of their belief in Him. And His message hasn’t changed. When we follow Jesus, He will direct our steps in ways we never imagined, placing people in our lives that need to see His love and hear His message.

The power of a redeemed life to touch the lives of others is powerfully illustrated in the Pure Flix film, “Do You Believe?”, which is currently showing on the streaming video on demand service at pureflix.com.  This story follows the lives of twelve individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences that “unexpectedly intersect” as they come face to face with one another and the power of the Cross of Christ.

If you are a church leader who desires to challenge your congregants and mobilize them to put their faith into action, the message of Do You Believe? is a timely one.
