There is power in great worship music. It gives us the words to feelings and thoughts we possess but cannot express; it lifts our eyes to the One who is love; it reminds us of our frailty and His sovereignty. For the Christian, worship is adoration set to music, and so much more.
With the national release of Hillsong: Let Hope Rise in a few weeks, I have been thinking a lot about the purpose and power of authentic worship. And in my scripture reading recently, I revisited this verse:
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” ~John 4:24 (NKJV)
True worship is not just an opening to a church service but a way of life. When we live by truth that is illuminated by the Spirit of God, then worship music serves to connect our emotions and experiences with His divine purpose. Think of Paul and Silas in prison, whose prayer and praise opened the doors and gave them a way of escape (Acts 16:25-34), or King David, whose poetry, praises and petitions were set to music and became an integral part of Israeli (and later Christian) worship.
Because of the importance of living a life of worship, we have released a DVD-based Study Kit based on Hillsong: Let Hope Rise that guides your small groups through ways to worship God through everyday living. Titled Worshiper, it includes topics such as “Worship Through Pain”, Worship Through Surrender”, and more. Available now at outreach.com, Worshiper is a valuable resource for you and your church that you can use in preparation for the film’s release on September 16th. In fact, you can visit their site to preview a study chapter and accompanying video clips.
Also we are continuing to book theaters based on group ticket requests. If you have a group of 25 or more, a Pure Flix Alliance team member will assist in finding a location and show time that works best for you. Please visit our Hillsong group ticket page at http://pureflixalliance.com/hillsong-group-tickets/. You will find a form to fill out and submit to us. Once it is received, one of our team members will contact you.
We pray that hearts are touched and lives are changed through this theatrical worship experience. We also pray that God will bless the study groups with a greater understanding of how to live a life of worship. Would you please pray this with us as well?
And please leave a comment below to let us know your favorite worship song; we would love to hear from you!
