Make Your Best Choice Today (and Tomorrow)

If you’re like most people, you finish the day with brain fatigue. And there’s a good reason why. According to multiple studies, by the time you fall asleep, you will have made approximately 35,000 decisions, from choosing what to eat to the right words to say to the quickest route home. And that’s just on a “typical” day.

Obviously, many of these choices are unavoidable. But in a multitasking world that’s connected 24/7, we are increasingly overloaded with options and opportunities. Each of these decisions requires time and comes with a consequence. In fact, at the end of the day, these “in the moment” decisions determine our degree of productivity. Did we move towards our goal, or did we move away? Did we accomplish our objectives, or did we push them to another day?

As Christians, we understand that God has given us the ability to choose, including how we choose to spend our time. However, along with this freedom comes the responsibility to steward our time wisely.

15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ~ Ephesians 5:15-17 (ESV)

God gives us the gift of time to accomplish His purpose according to His will. In the rush of life, don’t neglect the most important decision of your day, which is to seek the Lord for wisdom and direction. Over time, this daily choice will become a lifelong commitment. And the result? Not just temporal, but eternal.

So tomorrow morning, reach for the Word before reaching for the phone. Set aside time to seek His face. Commit your day for His kingdom purposes. It will be time well spent and the best choice you can make.
